I got Thomas to read this the other day when he came over to visit and thought we might do a recording of it replacing the test one produced a while ago. Think it’s probably still floating around on YouTube. Feel sure it lends itself ideas and a bit of fun producing.<\/span><\/p>\n

So here is The Tale of Obadiah Watts by Thomas Flyte<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

There’s a splintered old door that’s flat to the ground<\/span>
\nall covered in moss but still can be found.<\/span>
\nIt’s in the garden of a house that you should not name<\/span>
\nthat crackled and spat as it burnt from a flame.<\/span><\/p>\n

High in the sky tattered crows fly well clear<\/span>
\nof the shadows that creep and bring a town fear.<\/span>
\nTall spear railings so sharp and black<\/span>
\npoke hidden with the ivy ready for attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

All the towns children don’t play there at night<\/span>
\n’cause they know the devil dances and gives them a fright.<\/span>
\nRed blood paint spills across a wooden sign.<\/span>
\nKeep Out of this place or you’ll be mine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Obadiah Watts so big and bold<\/span>
\nignored all the warnings he had been told.<\/span>
\nFrom a town far away greedy for gold<\/span>
\na selfish man that takes what’s sold.<\/span><\/p>\n

Late at night when the moon was new<\/span>
\nand an old eagle owl hooted out a boo.<\/span>
\nFrom deep inside every nook and cranny<\/span>
\nare two red eyes that would scare your granny.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seeking out something down on the ground<\/span>
\nhe looked and looked until it could be found.<\/span>
\nA door that leads to treasures of gold<\/span>
\nbut guarded by a demon many centuries old.<\/span><\/p>\n

Obadiah doesn’t care of tales that scare.<\/span>
\nObadiah Watts just doesn’t much care.<\/span>
\nOut in the darkness waiting in the night<\/span>
\nis a long legged tall man ready for flight.<\/span><\/p>\n

With a knock and a knock and a tap and a tap<\/span>
\nObadiah Watts finds the door with a rap.<\/span>
\nHe takes from his coat a golden little key<\/span>
\nstolen from a deaf man when he didn’t see.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eager and greedy of what lay below<\/span>
\nforgetting the warning on hearing hello.<\/span>
\nLaughing to himself as he unlocks the door<\/span>
\nfrees it from the moss he can’t wait no more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within a glowing light that beats so hot<\/span>
\nguiding his steps he knows where not.<\/span>
\nDown and down following the light<\/span>
\nuntil he finds a room and what a sight.<\/span><\/p>\n

A long legged tall man nimble and quick<\/span>
\nslamming the door and locks it with a click…<\/span>
\nAnd Obadiah Watts so greedy and bold<\/span>
\nfaces a demon that turns him to gold!<\/span><\/p>\n
